About Your Online Spanish Teacher Lic. Euqueria Zamora-Ahonen
I earned my Licentiate Degree in Education from the Instituto Superior Pedagógico "Enrique J. Varona" in Havana, Cuba, and later completed the 60 ECTS Teacher Education Programme for University Teachers at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland.
Throughout my career, I have completed numerous professional development and teacher-training courses, continually refining my teaching methods and expanding my expertise to provide the highest quality learning experience for my students.
Spanish is my native language, and for more than 35 years I have taught both Spanish and English to students of different ages, nationalities, and proficiency levels. I have had the privilege of teaching at some of Cuba's and Finland's leading universities, experiences that have given me a deep understanding of the challenges language learners face and the most effective ways to help them succeed.
I am also the author of several coursebooks designed for elementary, intermediate, and advanced learners. In addition to my native Spanish, I speak English and Finnish fluently. I also studied French and hope to find more opportunities to practise it and continue improving my skills.
Today, I dedicate myself exclusively to teaching Spanish online, offering personalised lessons to students from all over the world. My goal is not only to teach the language but also to help my students discover the richness of the Spanish-speaking world and gain the confidence to communicate naturally.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy combining education, creativity, and technology. I design and build my own websites, where I develop educational resources and learning platforms for language learners. I also create educational videos for my YouTube project, AnimalisTerra, where I share fascinating stories about wildlife, biodiversity, animal behaviour, evolution, conservation, and the natural world. Artificial intelligence has become one of my favourite creative tools, allowing me to transform scientific research into engaging visual documentaries that make learning both informative and entertaining.
Reading is one of my greatest pleasures. I also love painting winter watercolours inspired by the magical landscapes I experienced while living in Finland, and I enjoy relaxing with crochet projects that let me express my creativity in a different way. To maintain a healthy balance between mind and body, I go to the gym twice a week, a habit that keeps me active and energised.
Teaching has always been much more than a profession—it is my vocation. After more than three decades of helping students achieve their language goals, I remain as passionate as ever about creating meaningful, enjoyable, and effective learning experiences for every student I have the privilege to teach.
